This is a song about letting the past go and starting fresh. I’ve found that, the older I get, the easier it is to accumulate baggage, hangups, and painful memories. The more I let these things crowd my mind, the more apprehensive I am about the future. In Christ, however, we don’t have to carry these things. He doesn’t ask us to bear the consciousness of sins He has forgiven. Nor does the future need to be defined by past sorrows and disappointments. For me, “windows” represent vision: they represent glimpses of the beauty that lies ahead for those of us who believe–not because of our goodness, but because of what Christ has purchased for us.
