Eternity – It’s an idea so complex to our frail human minds. The average lifetime of an individual is a mere speck within eternity’s scope, yet we cling to the lives of those we hold most dear to our hearts. It is when we become attune to God’s glory and purposes that we gain new perspectives on “eternity.”
The God of the universe, who was present and involved in the life of Abraham is the same unchangeable God who is present and involved with us now, and He is the same God who will come again one day to make all things new. That eternal God, in His greatness and compassion, has revealed Himself to us through the earthly dwelling of His Son Jesus. It is through the Son’s death, burial, and resurrection that eternal life has been offered to us. It is a sacrificial gift like none other. There are no earthly merits that can earn this gift. In the light of eternity, the vastness of this gift and His amazing love is absolutely mind-blowing! His gift of eternal life is for all who fear His name.
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” -Psalm 8:3-5 (ESV)
