Hopeful Dogwoods

by Dorcas Hawkins

My brother Robert died on Christmas day 2020. As I was preparing to write notes to friends and family after his death, I read that the dogwood flowers are often a symbol of rebirth. I painted this picture of dogwoods in memory of him. Robert’s death is the ultimate “rebirth” by dying to sin and the old way of life and being raised to the newness of life with Christ in heaven. As Christians, we experience salvation in being saved, salvation in being sanctified, and salvation in being glorified. Robert is now in heaven, and God receives glory for giving eternal life in Him.
