Back in August of 2023, Kosmeo published an issue on the concept of Time. Our verse in that issue was Ephesians 5:15-16, which says, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” This Scripture speaks to how we use our time in this hustling, bustling, keeping-up-with-everyone-and-everything society. In these verses, the NKJV uses the phrase “redeeming the time”. This word redeeming is actually translated, “to buy back”. The idea inside this phrase reveals that our enemy, the devil, would love nothing more than to steal our time, taking away our precious minutes for his own evil schemes. He loves to steal our time through distractions, through empty activities, through endless striving for our own glory and pleasure. It is the believer’s calling to buy back this time for God’s glory.
So, how can we buy back the time? The answer is to look at the minutes God has given us in our days and ask how we can use each of them for God’s purposes. In this endeavour, we seek His wisdom in ordering our day. We seek His wisdom in which activities are not only good, but best for our own time and our family’s time. This requires quiet reflection before the Lord.
Our team at Kosmeo has recently evaluated the way we spend our time. Each of us has schedules filled with the management of home, school, and family. We have people to feed, families to nurture, ministries that need our help, and friends in need. In the spirit of buying back our time, the team at Kosmeo will be taking one year of Sabbatical. In this year, we plan to catch up on the life that swirls around us, in hopes that our creative energies will blossom forth new and exciting issues of the future in 2026. As we read and learn, listen and observe, paint and create, work and feed, we plan to percolate on our next issue of 2026: Sabbath Rest.
Please consider spending time resting too! Allow your heart and mind to read, learn, listen, observe, write, and create! We would love for you to send us your musings on the 2026 topic of Sabbath Rest. Please send these to jodi@kosmeomag.com by March 31, 2026. We would love to receive your creative entries covering all forms of art. May your rest be full and rejuvenating to your soul!
